Killing Off The Planet

16. Towards the Future 2

I am going to draw upon what I have already written to suggest - what of the future?

Clearly man has problems -now which if left unchecked will have a marked effect upon now in the future. So another question is - is man responding to the probabilities of the future?

In one respect a percentage of the population does respond to- the future by creating parameters and using the past to foresee the value of and what will happen in the future, i.e. religion. In religion man adopts life values, i,e, a now reaction to the inevitable future which is so powerful and effective that it is beyond mere life.

Most religions have within them a code of conduct that affects the now lifestyle of the faithful. Which brings us on to faith, which is belief endorsed by the acceptance of reality as an opportunity to worship a God and to respond with, reality activity that endorses such worship, i.e. God is not a dream but the combination of the powerful, and that power in life is always in the future.

In effect, religion is diametrically opposed to politics. In religion, man has a notion of power which is in his mind rather than being physical actuality, but such is that power that the believers treat notional values as if they were real actuality and openly allow belief to be interwoven into their lifestyle and to take precedence - such is the awesome power that is always in the future. In Christianity man notions the eternal centres of power, namely God and the Son of God, Jesus Christ, and our worship which is aided by the, bible, the bible carrying past events to now, allowing them to affect our attitude to life which is now, and our picture of life and beyond life in the future.

In recent times different religions have come to be recognised by Western man; however they all have one thing in common and that is the value of spiritual power, spirit being beyond life. In other words, as my book suggests, there is a notion of the value of future which is greater than now and there is a time value called future becoming past which is a notion that corresponds with now but is not now, but real time, i.e. a spiritual time notion, and maybe it is that our spiritual interpretation of the value of now is in fact the future becoming past, on a different plane to life.

As opposed to religion, the political view is that the realities of now are of great value and any notional ideas are not spiritual but are ideas about affecting now now, and now in the future; i.e. there is now spiritual commitment. In effect politics ignores both future and past as values concentrating on using created wealth to manipulate reality in order that now in the future will be affected beneficially.

This goes on to suggest that politics and religion are like oil and water, the respective values are so different that a working opposition is created with each notion of religion and politics trying to affect each other in some way. Such effect is impossible to achieve as the parameters of the two are opposed.

Consequently what has happened in society is that the development of politics and religion have become interwoven to the point that the guidelines of each have become entangled. As a result we have a society that on six days a week values the pursuit of wealth and now values as pre-eminent, and on one a day a week those citizens who still value religion change their hat and reckon to value their relationship with God and Jesus Christ; i.e. they respond to notions of the value of pure future and the future becoming past. However the essence of this work is to suggest that being "Green" is to cast aside the six-day week notion of value in favour of a seven-day week notion of value, that puts true human values first and recognises that the future is all-important.

It is interesting to note that the value of the real future affects lower forms of life unavoidably yet man thinks he has some sort of choice which will buck the future. Here are a couple of examples. "Birds fly south in the winter". Well, they actually fly south before the winter. They seem in their brains to understand future better than we do and respond to something that is going to happen, rather than something that has already happened., Trees shed their leaves in the autumn before the winter and before the spring, i.e. they respond to the power of the future. If trees did not shed their leaves in autumn there would be no room for new growth in the spring; i.e. trees and birds are automatically affected by time in such a way that they respond to the future and recognise its power by effecting action now.

This all goes to show that the future is more than just time yet to come; it is more than just predictable, it is inevitable; consequently we have to use our new powers to prepare for the time when future becomes past, both on a reality and notional basis.

Man has the responsibility to himself and others to make sure that any detrimental effects that can be foreseen as in the future are worked at and towards with the idea of protecting man from a second-rate future.

In this work I have suggested that time is probably infinite; consequently if this is true, then there will always be a future. We just all owe it to ourselves and to our children and in turn their children, to ensure that we do not undermine the value of life on the planet earth.
